Nowadays steel pipes which are to be buried are provided with additional coating as corrosion protection in order to prolong their service lives. Polyethylenes have proven their worth as coating materials for external pipe protection.
W + K Industrietechnik plans and supplies complete plants and components for the polyethylene coating of pipes and by this technology pipe producers are provided with an ideal coating system. The coating complies with the requirements of DIN 30 670.
Pipes with diameters from 30 mm - 500 mm are coated according to the hose extrusion process. For pipes with diameters in access of 400 mm the wrapping extrusion process is applied.
The first layer in the three-layer coating (Epoxy-Polyethylene-composite-Coating) is a thin epoxy-resin coat (60 µm - 80 µm).
A 170 µm - 250 µm thick hard-adhesive film on top of this connects the epoxy-resin layer with the external 1.8 mm - 3.7 mm thick polyethylene layer which is applied using the hose or wrapping extrusion method.
Advantages of the PE-Pipe Outside Coating
High mechanical resistance and adhesion
Chemicals and aging resistance
High coating resistance
Large temperature application range
